Real Madrid defender Cicinho faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected cruciate knee ligament injury.The Brazilian picked up the injury after 30 minutes of Real's game with Real Betis on Saturday evening.
The 26-year-old sustained the problem after falling awkwardly while challenging for the ball.
Real fear the injury is serious and Cicinho is expected to undergo more tests on his knee on Sunday.
"We think he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament, but we will have to carry out further tests tomorrow," said Real Madrid team doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez.
If Real's worst fears are confirmed, Cicinho faces up to six months out of action which could end the defender's season.
