Wenger reopens Cole conflict
Arsene Wenger has again hit out at Chelsea for their tapping-up of Ashley Cole.
Arsene Wenger has again voiced his disappointment at Chelsea's tapping-up of Ashley Cole, with the Arsenal boss also promising to reveal the full details of the scandal at a later date. The England international finally moved to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day in August, a full 18 months after the illicit meeting with Arsenal's rivals that led to punishments being dealt out to Cole, Chelsea and Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
The secretive summit at a top London hotel was a bitter bone of contention for The Gunners and set in motion a chain of events that eventually led to Cole moving across London in exchange for William Gallas and £5 million.
Cole expanded on the events of the controversial meeting in his recent autobiography, but Wenger says he will give his own side of the story at some point in the future.
The Frenchman also voiced his anger at Chelsea's actions once more, particularly given that the meeting took place just days before Arsenal played Manchester United in The Premiership - a match they lost 4-2.
"What was really annoying was they contacted Ashley Cole two or three days before a match with Manchester United which was a crucial game for us," said Wenger on French television.
"I'll talk about what happened later for there were things said in that meeting that were impossible for Arsenal to accept."
