Young backs brothers to shine

Watford's Ashley Young is keen for his younger brothers to follow in his footsteps.

Ashley Young is keen for his younger brothers to follow in his footsteps and break into the Watford first team.

Young has impressed in the early stages of Watford's Premiership campaign, but he has warned that he is not the only member of his family to watch out for.

"Two of my brothers are also on the books at Watford," said Young. "Lewis, a wide midfielder, plays for the Under-18s, and Kyle, a forward, is in the Under-11s.

"Some people say there are similarities in the way we all play, and I hope they will follow in my footsteps here.

"I've heard good things about Lewis from the youth-team coaches, and we all say we're as good as each other - although I think I'm better!"

Watford beat Middlesbrough 2-0 on Saturday to claim their first victory of the season, with Young grabbing the second goal.

And the 21-year-old is hoping to build on the success in Watford's next two games.

"Playing well and scoring against Woodgate and Huth can only give me confidence as a player," he commented.

"We're now looking forward very much to playing Newcastle and Chelsea. We said we want to finish in the top 10 - even the top five - because that is the ambition the club has.

"Everyone in the team can contribute goals. It is all about doing our individual jobs and helping the team to three points."
