Pauleta is planning to end his career at Paris Saint Germain. The striker has proved to be a key figure for the capital club since making the move to Parc Des Princes in 2003.
He has a contract with PSG until 2008 and is planning to head into the sunset when his commitment ends.
The forward claims he has very few regrets, although he did have the chance to move to Arsenal and Barcelona earlier in his career.
"I want to terminate my career at the club, in June 2008," the Portuguese ace told France Football.
"I will never regret my decision to stay last summer.
"If I wanted to be champion this year, I knew it had to be at Lyon. I didn't stay at Paris for that.
"At Paris, I am fine. Even if it will not be this year, I think I will achieve beautiful things at Paris.
"This season my aim is to finish as top scorer. I can also become the top scorer in PSG history. That is my great aim."
Reflecting on a couple of key moments in his career, Pauleta added: "I had a contact with Arsenal. With Valencia too, and once I talked to Barcelona. But all the clubs where I played were happy with me, so it was difficult to leave.
"After my first season at Bordeaux, Arsenal wanted me, but my officials asked for a lot of money.
"Do I have any regrets? MaybeǪ Playing for Real, Barca or AC Milan. They are three clubs you want to play for.
"In June 2008, I will stop my career, and I will have a sabbatical year to stay with my family. I know I will terminate my career at Paris, at the end of next season."
Pauleta does not plan to sever ties with PSG after retirement, but is not intending to venture into coaching.
"I will remain close to PSG, available for the club, even if there is no official link. Anyway I know I don't want to become a coach."
