Trez: I was going to quit
David Trezeguet says Raymond Domenech persuaded him not to quit international football.
David Trezeguet says France coach Raymond Domenech persuaded him not to retire from international football after the World Cup.
The Juventus star says he was unhappy at spending so much time on the bench and intended to quit the night after France's defeat in Germany.
But after a meeting with the France coach, the 29-year-old striker said he wanted to fight to try and regain his place in the starting line-up.
"The night after the final I was going to stop playing for France," Trezeguet told L'Equipe.
"I went to the World Cup with the Italian league title, 23 goals in Serie A, and I was left of the bench!
"I wasn't in the manager's plans so after the match we talked about the future. He knew what I was thinking.
"He's the boss and it's up to me to adapt and stay in his thoughts."
