Levante to keep Prem target
Levante have rejected offers from Premiership sides for striker Albert Meyong Ze.
Levante have rejected offers for Albert Meyong Ze - a number from England - and now plan to keep hold of the Cameroon international striker.Meyong Ze joined Levante last summer in a é¼2 million (£1.35 million) from Portuguese outfit Belenenses and he arrived with a big reputation having netted an impressive total of 17 league goals the season previous.
However, he has struggled to adapt to life in La Liga and has made only four starts this term, managing just a solitary goal - against Real Sociedad at the start of November.
In recent weeks he has failed to even make Levante's substitutes' bench with the likes of Mustapha Riga and Peguy Luyindula being preferred by coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro.
It was thought that the Spaniards might be prepared to cut their losses on the powerful striker with clubs in England and Portugal - reportedly including Sheffield United and the player's former side Belenenses - understood to have submitted offers for the 26-year-old.
But it seems none of Meyong Ze's suitors have come up with an offer to entice Levante and, for the time being, they have decided to retain the African's services.
"We have received calls from England and Portugal asking about Meyong, but the financial conditions were not interesting for the club and we gave a negative answer," stating a club spokesman.
Levante currently lie 17th in La Liga, just one place and two points outside the relegation places.
