Koumas tops for December

West Brom's Jason Koumas is the Championship's Player of the Month for December.

The Wales international is joined by Doncaster Rovers striker Paul Heffernan and Hartlepool United goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, who claimed last month's honours for Leagues One and Two respectively.

After an uncertain summer in which he was regularly linked with a move to former loan club Cardiff City, Koumas was in sparkling goalscoring form for The Baggies in the final month of 2006.

The former Tranmere Rovers man struck four goals in six games for Tony Mowbray's side, as West Brom moved into the play-off positions in the Championship.

Heffernan took the plaudits in League One after netting four times from five league games for Sean O'Driscoll's side.

Konstantopoulos receives the League Two gong after helping Danny Wilson's side not concede a single goal through December, as Pools stretched their winning run to eight league games in the division.
