Torquay to lose Murray

Adam Murray is set to join Macclesfield from League Two rivals Torquay.

Adam Murray is being lined up to join Macclesfield Town from League Two rivals Torquay United.

The midfielder only signed for Torquay in a £10,000 deal from Carlisle United in August, and has made 25 appearances for the club.

But the Birmingham-born player looks set to leave Plainmoor in the coming days due to a family issue.

Torquay chairman Chris Roberts confirmed Murray's impending exit and is disappointed to be losing the 25-year-old.

"We are exceedingly disappointed that Adam Murray is leaving Torquay United," Roberts told the Herald Express.

"We don't want him to go, but he has some quite severe family problems to deal with nearer his home in the Midlands.

"If it wasn't for these family problems, we would under no circumstances have sanctioned this move, as we consider Adam to be a valuable member of the squad."

Reports suggest Torquay will recoup the money paid for Murray, with relegation rivals Macclesfield close to a deal.
