Internazionale tightened their grip on the Serie A title race on Sunday.

Inter's response was swift, though, as Dejan Stankovic drew them level on 19 minutes and Adriano fired them ahead on 24 minutes.

Empoli reinforced their claims for a European slot with a 2-0 win over Sampdoria. Both the goals came in the second half, with Luca Saudati and Davide Matteini the successful marksmen.

Siena battled back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over struggling Chievo.

Matteo Brighi gave the Flying Donkeys the lead on 25 minutes, but Siena rallied and goals just past the hour from Luca Antonini and Daniele Portanova secured victory for the home side.

Udinese were 1-0 winners over Messina thanks to Vincenzo Iaquinta and it was a similar story as David Suazo's early penalty handed Cagliari a 1-0 win at Catania.
