Yeovil take Sweeney on loan
Yeovil have signed Stoke's Peter Sweeney on loan until the end of the season.
Yeovil Town have signed Stoke City youngster Peter Sweeney on loan until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old winger could make his debut against former club Millwall at Huish Park on Saturday.
Yeovil have been one of the surprise packages in League One this year and are well-placed to claim a play-off spot, and manager Russell Slade believes Sweeney can give their promotion hopes a boost.
"We have been patiently waiting for the right type of player to come along and I think that in Peter, we have found that player," he told the club's official website.
"He is a skilful winger and I feel that in signing him, we are enhancing our chances."
Meanwhile, Exeter City full-back Danny Woodards has joined the club on trial.
The former Chelsea man, 23, is yet to sign a new contract and Slade wants to take a look at the player to see if he can provide cover for the injured Mark Lynch.
"Exeter have given us permission to look at him in a practice match at Dorchester," said Slade.
"We have been watching him for a while and he is someone we have always quite liked, so it's a good opportunity for us to have a look at him."
