Myhre seals Viking switch

Thomas Myhre has agreed to join Viking on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Norway international Thomas Myhre has agreed to join Viking on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Charlton goalkeeper has signed a three-and-a-half year contract which comes into effect from July.

Addicks boss Alan Pardew was unwilling to allow the 33-year-old to leave the relegation threatened club before the player's contract expires in the summer.

"I decided to join Viking a while ago. The decision was taken with my family," Myhre told Norwegian media.

"My wife is from Stavanger and I had five good years here in the past, that's the reason for the choice."

Myhre would like to return to Norway earlier, but is determined to give his all for Charlton in the meantime.

"I hope it can be solved, but I will be professional towards Charlton," he added.

"It's not difficult to understand why they don't want to let me leave when they are fighting to avoid the drop."
