Simpson explains Nash move

Paul Simpson says Carlo Nash was loaned out to Wigan because of his attitude.

Paul Simpson says Carlo Nash was loaned out to Wigan because of his 'lack of respect for both Preston and his team-mates'.

The goalkeeper made no secret of his desire to leave Deepdale in the January transfer window, and was unhappy with Preston's decision to reject a bid from Fulham.

He was even quoted as saying that he did not think Preston could gain promotion to the Premiership this season, and subsequently lost his place to Andy Lonergan.

"The situation which arose shortly before the transfer window closed means that I still don't feel it is right to involve Carlo in anything that we are doing," Simpson told the club's official website.

Simpson believes Nash's month-long move to The JJB Stadium is a good deal for the player and Preston, as well as Wigan.

"It is disappointing that I am having to make this decision, but after his public show of a lack of respect for both the club and his team-mates I feel I am left with very little option," he explained.

"Going out on loan is the ideal situation for all parties concerned.

"Wigan need a keeper and it will give Carlo some games which he wasn't likely to get here."
