Adebayo Akinfenwa could have played his last game for Swansea City after suffering a broken leg.

The striker will miss the rest of the season after picking up the injury during the team's 2-0 home defeat to Scunthorpe United on Tuesday.

Swansea's caretaker manager Kevin Nugent offered his sympathy to Akinfenwa, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

"It is a bad one for Bayo and that's a blow for everyone," said Nugent.

"There was always a risk that we would lose one of our senior strikers and be down to two, but Pawel Abbott and Lee Trundle are decent players, and we've always got a list of players who we could bring in on loan."

Akinfenwa has scored six goals in 31 appearances this season and joined the League One side from Torquay United in 2005.

He was not the only player to pick up an injury against Scunthorpe, with Darren Pratley dislocating his shoulder in the defeat.

Pratley was able to finish the game, but the midfielder has been ruled out of Swansea's plans for the next month.

Izzy Iriekpen hurt his hamstring in the same match and is expected to miss Saturday's game with Yeovil Town.
