Lyon had to endure a 20-minute hold up due to crowd trouble before beating St Etienne.
The derby between bitter rivals St Etienne and Lyon was held up for 20 minutes due to crowd trouble before the visitors ran out 3-1 winners.
Champions Lyon were already 3-0 up when referee Tony Chapron sent the players back to the dressing rooms in the 52nd minute.
It appeared smoke bombs had been thrown onto the pitch by St Etienne fans towards the Lyon supporters. Police responded by firing tear gas into the stands.
Leaders Lyon shrugged off the hold-up and went on to complete the victory thanks to goals by Kim Kallstrom, Tiago and Fred although Befitimbi Gomis did manage a late consolation for the hosts.
Lyon coach Gerard Houllier seemed unperturbed by the crowd problems, although he did complain that the stoppage affected his team's attacking flair.
"We saw a great Lyon team that scored three great goals and could have had two more," he said.
"We didn't become deflated in the hostile atmosphere. It wasn't easy. The stoppage cost us our flair because until then we were playing really well."
Lyon now have 61 points from 27 matches and enjoy a 16-point lead over second-placed Lens, who travel to Marseille on Sunday.
Les Verts, who have now lost their last four home league games and have not won a derby against Lyon since 1994, dropped to sixth.
Lille warmed up for their UEFA Champions League trip to Old Trafford with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Troyes.
The hosts were quickly in command with a first half brace from Abdul Keita sandwiching a Stephane Dumont strike. Dumont added another straight after the break to complete the victory
