Mexes hopeful on France

French defender Philippe Mexes is hoping to secure an international recall.

The Roma stopper has been in fine form in Europe's premier club competition this season, helping the Giallorossi into the quarter-finals after seeing off Lyon.

France coach Raymond Domenech was on hand to see him at Stade de Gerland and now Mexes is hoping to add to his tally of six caps.

"I still believe in being called by the French team," said Mexes. "It is my country and you are always proud to represent it."

Mexes missed out on a place in France's Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup squad, but was called up for last year's friendly with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
