Sheffield United striker Colin Kazim-Richards has received an international call-up from Turkey's Under 21s.The 20-year-old has been included in the squad for the game against Switzerland's Under 21 side on 24th March.
Kazim-Richards qualifies to play international football for Turkey through his mother and is looking forward to the experience.
"My mum's Turkish Cypriot, my mum's whole family were born in Cyprus so that's the connection," Kazim-Richards told Sky Sports News.
"I've thrown my hat in there and we'll see how it goes.
"I think I'm flying on Sunday and meeting up on Monday and then Switzerland on the Saturday."
Kazim-Richards, who is English, still harbours hope of playing for England, but is keeping his international options open.
"It was my dream to play for both England and Turkey but you can't do that," he said.
"When I started at Bury I said I did want to play for Turkey at one time - the simple fact being you look at England and you ask yourself - are you going to play consistently in internationals?
"I have seen some players play a game and not feature again and then they can't play for anyone else.
"I don't really want to do that so I made a footballing decision and hopefully that will pay off.
"I'm very pleased. It is a new page in my life, a new chapter. Any international is an honour."
