Reds confirm Aurelio blow

Liverpool have confirmed that Fabio Aurelio has ruptured his Achilles tendon.

The Brazilian left-back picked up the injury during Tuesday's 3-0 win at PSV Eindhoven.

Aurelio was stretched off amid concerns that the problem was serious and now Liverpool's fears have been realised following a scan.

The former Valencia man will now require surgery and will be sidelined for at least three months.

"A scan has confirmed a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in Fabio's right leg," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.

"The player will undergo surgery later today and is expected to be out for approximately three to four months."
