York City manager Jackie McNamara has one game to save job

York City manager Jackie McNamara's future has been placed in the hands of his players this weekend.
The Scot has been given one game to save his job after a dreadful run of form in the National League, culminating in Tuesday's 6-1 defeat at bottom-of-the table Guiseley, who had previously not won a game this season.
McNamara, 42, held discussions with chairman Jason McGill on Wednesday morning, and it has been decided he will resign if York do not gain a "positive result" against fellow strugglers Braintree Town on Saturday.
"Following a meeting with the chairman this morning, and in light of the disappointing performance and result last night, York City manager Jackie McNamara has considered his position going forward," read a club statement.
"It has been decided that, if the team fails to gain a positive result at Braintree Town on Saturday, the York City manager will tender his resignation.
"The manager will be looking for a passionate and committed reaction from the players after the capitulation at Nethermoor Park on Tuesday evening."
City were relegated from Sky Bet League Two last season and McNamara, the former Dundee United manager who replaced Russell Wilcox as boss in November, embarked on a major overhaul of the squad at Bootham Crescent during the summer.
However, the Minstermen have only claimed 12 points from their 14 games this season and sit just one place above the relegation zone after their defeat at Guiseley, which extended their run without an away victory to 29 games.
