Jovan Malcolm marked his York debut with a goal as the Minstermen added to Exeter's away day woes with a 2-1 win in League Two.
The visitors have not won on the road since January and their luck did not change at a wet LNER Community Stadium, with key players Jayden Wareham and Luca Woodhouse left out of the squad amid transfer speculation.
For newly promoted York, their unbeaten start to the league campaign continued after Alex Newby's first-half opener was added to by debutant Malcolm, who joined on loan from Stevenage earlier this week.

The hosts got their breakthrough after seven minutes when Newby swept Harry Boyes' low cross past Jack Bycroft for his third goal in three games.
Newby was almost at the double when his first-time hit from Joe Grey's cross forced an outstanding save from Bycroft.
York got their second with 14 minutes left when - after Newby had seen a one-on-one parried wide by the toes of Bycroft - Malcolm headed home from the resulting corner 10 minutes into his debut.
A late goal from Jack Fitzwater gave the Grecians some hope, but it was too little too late.
