Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Benfica ace Simao Sabrosa.The Spanish side have been in talks with Benfica for some time over the Portuguese international and they have now agreed a ,é¼20million (£13.4million) fee for the player.
Liverpool and Valencia both saw moves for Simao collapse last year, but Atletico have finally managed to lure him away from Estadio da Luz
Atletico have offered Simao a five-year deal and he is expected to arrive in Spain to undergo a medical at the Vicente Calderon.
Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira admitted it was a hard decision to sell Simao.
"The operation is excellent in the money aspect, but he will always be a player in our hearts," Vieira told the Portuguese press.
"The decision to sell was very difficult for us."
