Dundee have appealed against the red card shown to Scott Bain during Sunday's derby against Dundee United.

The Dark Blues' goalkeeper was dismissed by referee Steven McLean after 51 minutes when he fouled United striker Billy McKay in the penalty area.

McKay netted the resulting spot-kick past replacement keeper David Mitchell and the former Inverness CT favourite added a second in stoppage-time to secure a valuable point for United.

Dundee striker Kane Hemmings had given the visitors a two-goal advantage at Tannadice with a quickfire double in the latter stages of the first half.
