Rovers fret over Berner

Foot X-ray for Berner

Blackburn Rovers are sweating on the fitness of Swiss full-back Bruno Berner. The defender suffered a foot injury during Rovers' 2-1 defeat in Wednesday's pre-season friendly at Huddersfield Town. He will undergo an X-ray on Thursday, with Blackburn manager Mark Hughes conceding he is concerned by the injury. "There's a little bit of concern," Hughes told the club's official website.

Hopeful

"He felt something in his foot, and he's had a metatarsal before, so we're hopeful that it isn't a reoccurrence of that. "He was able to walk which was something he wasn't able to do apparently when he did it before. "We're hopeful that it hasn't gone completely, he's going for an X-ray on Thursday morning, so we'll be guided by that, obviously the way he pulled up there would be a concern about that." Berner linked up with Blackburn in January from Basel and made two appearances for the club last season.
