Bruma blow for Barnsley

Barnsley new boy Marciano Bruma will sit out the start of the season due to a broken hand.

New signing out for four weeks

Barnsley new boy Marciano Bruma will sit out the start of the season due to a broken hand. The full-back suffered the injury during a pre-season training camp in Portugal following his arrival from Sparta Rotterdam. Bruma could be sidelined for up to six weeks and will definitely miss next week's Championship opener with Coventry City. "Marciano had an hour-long operation on Tuesday during which a plate and screws were inserted into his second metacarpal on his left hand," Barnsley physio Richard Kay told the club's official website. "He will have the plate and screws in his hand now forever. "He now has a full range of movement in his hand and will see the specialist again next week to determine whether we will be able to remove the Plaster of Paris and have him in a splint. He will then be able to go into non-contact training. "At the moment it looks as though he will be out for between four and six weeks."
