Boro land coveted striker

Mido has completed his move to Middlesbrough from Premier League rivals Tottenham. After the two clubs concurred on a £6million fee, Boro wasted little time in agreeing personal terms with the 24-year-old. The Egypt international has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal and could make his debut at the weekend. Boro had been waiting for a work permit before wrapping up the deal and now that has been granted, a debut could be made at Craven Cottage this weekend.

Southgate pleased

"He is someone I played against as a player and he always impressed me," Boro manager Gareth Southgate told the club's official website. "He's got good technical ability and he's a goalscorer. "When you've got one of the best crossers of the ball in the league in Stewart Downing, you want someone like Mido who can head the ball." Mido scored five times in 23 appearances for Tottenham in the 2006/07 season.
