Goalkeeper faces racist accusations
Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller is under investigation following allegations of racism.
Schalke striker Gerald Asamoah claimed that he was verbally abused by Weidenfeller during the two clubs' derby meeting at Veltins Arena on Saturday.
The German football federation (DFB) have now said they will be considering an investigation after they have studied the match referee's report of the incident.
Asamoah claimed that Weidenfeller made a racist comment after the pair clashed in the 51st minute of the match, but the Dortmund keeper has been quick to deny the charges.
Severe punishment
"Such a phrase just doesn't have a place in my vocabulary," Asasmoah told Dortmund's official website.
"I didn't say that and I can't understand why Gerald has decided to blow up this issue."
DFB president Theo Zwanziger has confirmed that he will be looking at the situation, but he is keen not to accuse Weidenfeller without the facts.
"The DFB condemns any kind of acts of racism and will punish them severely, but we have to take a close look at the facts in this case before we can come to any conclusion," said Zwanziger.
