Owen: United will bounce back

Owen Hargreaves is confident Manchester United's goals shortage will not last for long.

Hargreaves thrilled by United debut

Owen Hargreaves is confident Manchester United's goals shortage will not last for long. The England midfielder made his long-awaited debut in Sunday's 1-0 derby defeat to Sven Goran Eriksson's Manchester City at Eastlands. The champions have collected just two points and one goal from their three Premier League games so far and have slipped seven points behind their high-flying Manchester rivals, but Hargreaves believes the goal drought is only short-term. "We are creating enough chances but, obviously, we need to score," said the former Bayern Munich midfielder. "It is something we will have to work on in the coming games because really, by the time Manchester City scored yesterday, we should have been in front.

Frustrating

"The frustrating thing is that we have played well in all three games so far this season. But the key thing in football is to win and we need to start doing that." Hargreaves was one of United's most effective performers against City and admits it was the biggest moment of his playing career. "It is the biggest moment in my career so far," he added "To play for Manchester United, in front of these fans, and to be around these players and coaches is fantastic. "It was a great game to make my debut in. Naturally, I am disappointed we did not win but I am sure there will be a lot more wins in the future." Hargreaves, who will miss England's clash with Germany on Wednesday after aggravating a tendinitis problem, is hoping to be fit to make his Old Trafford bow against Spurs next Sunday.
