George Francomb will remain with AFC Wimbledon's development squad despite being named on the bench for their 2-1 defeat against Bolton at the weekend.
The midfielder has not featured for the first team since April after he suffered a knee injury and assistant manager Neil Cox revealed the 24-year-old will not be involved in the Dons' clash with Scunthorpe on Tuesday.
Chris Whelpdale will have a late fitness test ahead of the game after struggling with a groin problem.
Defender Jon Meades is still sidelined with an ankle injury.
Scunthorpe striker Tom Hopper is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after shaking off illness.
Hopper was restricted to a substitute's role in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Fleetwood after missing last week's EFL Cup win against Notts County but stepped off the bench to score.
Last season's top goalscorer Paddy Madden remains sidelined with a calf injury sustained during the summer, but boss Graham Alexander has no major new fitness problems.
Alexander handed Sam Mantom his league debut for the club at Fleetwood and the summer signing hopes to continue, while Jamie Ness, Kyle Wootton and Luke Williams are pushing for recalls.
