Goalkeeper remains a Dane

Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will not play for England, according to his father. Schmeichel has impressed for City this year and let in only his first goal of the season in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, but the shot-stopper's famous father Peter has ruled out the possibility of his son featuring for England. The 20-year-old has played for Denmark's Under 21s and his father insists this is where his future lies, despite rumours suggesting Kasper would be eligible to represent England at international level. "Kasper is Danish," said Peter Schmeichel, who made his name at City's Manchester rivals United. "He has absolutely no chance of playing for England and the discussion should stop now. "England is for English people, Kasper was born Danish, all his family is Danish and there is nothing that can make him English. "If you ask him he says 'I'm Danish and I play for Denmark'."
