Mixed bag for British clubs
The UEFA Champions League draw from Monaco saw six British clubs learn of who they are to the face at the group stage of Europe's premier club competition.
Last season's beaten finalists Liverpool, who lost 2-1 to Milan in Athens, play Portuguese giants Porto, rejuvenate French side Marseille and Besiktas of Turkey in Group A.
Manchester United have been drawn alongside Roma, who they beat 7-1 in last season's competition, along with Sporting Lisbon, in a match-up which sees both Ronaldo and Nani return to their former club. Dynamo Kiev are the final club in Group F.
Chelsea are determined to make an impression in Europe this season and Jose Mourinho's side kick-off their Champions League campaign against familiar foes too, as they play Valencia, who they beat at the quarter-final stage last season. Completing a tough looking Group B are Schalke and Rosenborg.
Arsenal's reward for seeing off Sparta Prague at the qualifying stage on Wednesday night is another trip to the Czech capital, as they face Slavia Prague. In what looks to be a favourable Group H, Steaua Bucharest and Sevilla or AEK Athens complete the rest of the line-up.
A nerve wracking defeat of Spartak Moscow on Tuesday, via a penalty shoot-out, brings big time European nights back to Celtic Park, with Gordon Strachan's side drawn alongside Milan, as they were last season, Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk in Group D.
Glasgow rivals Rangers, who beat Crvena Zvezda to qualify for the group stage, face a real tough test in Group E, as they face the fancied Barcelona and Lyon, along with Stuttgart.
