Manchester City midfielder David Silva says it is the the stadium atmosphere and pace of the game in England that makes the Premier League so attractive.

Silva, who was speaking to Tubes on Soccer AM, began his career in Spain with Valencia 2004, before joining City in 2010, where he has made 170 appearances.

However, despite holding some initial misgivings about moving to the Premier League, Silva says the game has changed massively since he first arrived in the country.

And it is that passion of football in England that persuaded Silva to sign a new five-year contact at the Etihad in August 2014.

"The passion here is something I had not previously experienced," Silva said. "The amount of passion in every stadium here every week is incredible. The fast-paced game makes for entertaining matches.

"I think there used to be a bigger attachment to a direct style of football, but now teams are playing more attractive football and want to keep possession. That used to be something I did not like that much, but it has changed hugely in the last few years."

The Spain international also holds the club record for the most amount of assists in the Premier League, his favourite coming in City's memorable 6-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in October 2011.

"One of the best was the pass to Edin Dzeko when he scored against Manchester United" Silva added. "That's one of my favourites, but of course there have been many others."

Silva has scored 34 goals for the club, and picked a strike early in his City career as his favourite.

"I'll go for my first Premier League goal which was against Blackpool when I was settling in during my first few months here," Silva said. "I started the game on the bench, I went on and managed to score, which gave me a big confidence boost."
