Owls striker breaks ankle against Stoke
Sheffield Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken ankle against Stoke City.
The England cap was hurt following a tackle from Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross during The Owls' 4-2 win at The Britannia Stadium.
Jeffers was stretchered off after half-an-hour and Owls boss Brian Laws confirmed the player had broken his ankle.
Laws was unhappy with Shawcross' challenge on Jeffers and admits the injury cast a cloud over his side's impressive victory at Stoke.
Dejected
"That's a downside," admitted Laws. "I would like to have sat here and felt good, but I am dejected and disappointed to have lost a quality player to a broken ankle.
"He is a genuine lad of real quality and it's a gut-wrenching feeling at the moment.
"The referee had a good game, but he made a bad decision there.
"It was a poor tackle and he (Shawcross) has gone through and broken his ankle.
"I'm a broken man. I'll go home and curl up because no-one wants to see a player injured like that."
