Southampton boss George Burley has blasted Portsmouth for declaring their interest in Nathan Dyer.

Saints chief unhappy with Dyer speculation

Southampton boss George Burley has blasted South Coast rivals Portsmouth for publicly declaring their interest in Nathan Dyer. Portsmouth assistant manager Tony Adams revealed earlier this month the club were keeping tabs on the highly-rated young winger. Dyer has enjoyed a fine start to the season with Southampton and Burley is unhappy that Portsmouth have made their interest in the player known in the public domain.

Talking

"I don't think other people should be talking about players from other clubs like that," Burley told the Daily Echo. "Speculation is part of being a footballer when you're doing well, as Nathan is doing, but unfortunately that's the way some people do it these days."
