Black Cats boss warns players not to get suspended

Roy Keane has warned his Sunderland players that if they get suspended they may face a long wait to get back into the side. Paul McShane and Greg Halford are both banned for Monday's Premier League clash with Manchester City after receiving red cards in recent weeks. Dickson Etuhu also had to sit out the 2-1 defeat to Blackburn in September after collecting five yellow cards in his first eight games for the club. Keane was suspended several times as a player but he admits he still gets frustrated when any of his men lose their discipline. "You constantly speak to the players, but ultimately, the player will suffer anyway," explained the Black Cats boss. "Players will complain about not being in the team or not getting a run, but if you are getting suspended every two minutes, you are not going to get that run. "When they are suspended and they cannot get back into the team, sometimes for a few months you say 'well, it's your own fault, so don't come and annoy me about it'. "We constantly remind the players, but in the position we are in, we certainly cannot keep going down to 10 men and expect to get results."
