Alex Scott says interim coach Mo Marley is a strong candidate to take over full time

Alex Scott says England women's interim coach Mo Marley has "a fabulous track record".

Marley is in temporary charge after the FA sacked coach Mark Sampson in September.

Scott told Sky Sports News: "When you look at Mo's track record, how she's developed the youngsters, she's been successful in her youth tournaments so she's got a good case just like anyone else.

"It's down to the FA who they appoint and have in charge but she has a fabulous track record".

Marley's first match in charge was a 1-0 friendly defeat against 2019 World Cup hosts France, but the new coach said she was proud of her players after a difficult week.

The game was England's only friendly before World Cup qualifying resumes next month with games against Bosnia and Kazakhstan.

Marley stepped up from her previous role in charge of the U19 side to replace Sampson.
