Eniola Aluko says "it felt right to leave Chelsea", amid speculation linking her with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The striker, who joined the club in 2012, played her last game for Chelsea Ladies against Liverpool Ladies on May 20, scoring in a 3-2 win.
She has been linked with a move to a European club after winning the WSL 1 title and the Women's FA Cup with Chelsea this season.
"It's a fairy-tale ending for me," Aluko told Sportswomen, "I couldn't have wished for a better ending this season.
"I wouldn't have known this time last year that I was going to leave Chelsea but It felt right to leave Chelsea at this point.
"It's not just football, it's like leaving family. It was a big decision and I've had second thoughts over the past month."
When asked if a move to Paris Saint-Germain was on the cards next season, she said: "It may be, it may be.
"It's a career decision and one that I think is very exciting. Going to play in Europe is not something I've done."
