Manchester United Women boss Casey Stoney has lavished praise on her table-topping team as they chase immediate promotion to the FA Women’s Super League.

Despite suffering their first league defeat of the season against Durham at the beginning of the month, Stoney's side are at the summit of the FA Women's Championship.

Stoney left her role as assistant to England boss Phil Neville to take charge at newly-formed United Women in June, and the former England captain admits it's been a whirlwind introduction into the world of football management.

She told Sky Sports News: "For me to be able to get the job, starting from scratch and build my own ideas and my own philosophy at the biggest club in the world is incredible.

"We're exceeding our expectations. We're only 23 weeks into our journey and the players are developing all the time, they are producing performances that they can be proud of.
