Nottingham Forest midfielder Kris Commons has been named Powerade League One Player of the Month for October. Commons' form has been instrumental in Forest's improved displays throughout October. The midfielder's five goals in six league games helped Colin Calderwood's side secure nine points from the month. His goalscoring run began with a late equaliser at Huddersfield but the undoubted highlight of the month was the winger's hat-trick to give his side a comprehensive victory at Cheltenham and keep Forest firmly in touch at the top of League One. Also short-listed for the October award in League One were Joe Garner of Carlisle, Jonathon Douglas of Leeds and Swansea's Dorus De Vries. Awards panel chairman Chris Kamara said: "Like the rest of the Nottingham Forest side, Kris Commons endured a difficult start to the season. "But he has been at the heart of Forest's turnaround in fortunes in October, hitting five goals in six games, including a fantastic hat-trick at Cheltenham."
