Striker out until after Christmas

Coventry City striker Robbie Simpson is likely to be out for two months with a ruptured hamstring. The youngster suffered the injury during the first half of last week's 3-1 win at Stoke City and was replaced by Dele Adebola at the Britannia Stadium. Tests have now shown the severity of the problem, and Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie expects the forward to return in the New Year. "Robbie went for a scan and it's a very serious rupture of his hamstring," Dowie told the club's official website. "It's testimony to the lad that he pulled it and still tried to force himself to get the shot away and that probably did more damage. "It's a real disappointment because I felt he was in good form and he has had a big impact at the club since he joined in the summer. "So this will be a test for him, but hopefully he will come back better and we look forward to seeing him in and around the team again after Christmas."
