Brentford midfielder Josh Laurent has extended his loan stay at Newport until the end of October.

Laurent has yet to start a league game for the Sky Bet Football League's bottom club as he has made only two substitute appearances so far for Terry Butcher's Exiles.

But the 20-year-old did make his first start in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie against Swindon, which Newport lost on penalties, at the start of the month.

"I am really enjoying my time here," Laurent told Newport's official website.

"The manager is always welcoming, telling me where I can improve and helping me progress as player.

"In the next month I just want to get as much game-time as I can and help the boys get the first three points."

Laurent's extended loan will now run until Newport's League 2 home game against Northampton on October 31.
