Adam Barton leaves Portsmouth for Partick Thistle

New Partick Thistle signing Adam Barton says he chose to move from Portsmouth to Scotland because he saw it as an exciting challenge

Portsmouth utility player Adam Barton has joined Partick Thistle for an undisclosed fee.

Jags manager Alan Archibald has been looking for a central defender and a midfielder and he found both in the one player as Barton signed a three-year deal.

Barton joined Pompey from Coventry a year ago and made 19 league appearances for Paul Cook's side - three of them this season.

However, the return to fitness of Jack Whatmough and arrivals of Tom Davies and Matt Clarke pushed the 25-year-old down the pecking order.
