Matt Le Tissier believes Adam Lallana can become a key player for Liverpool if Jurgen Klopp invests faith in the attacking midfielder.

Much has been made of Klopp's infatuation with getting his players to work hard, raising questions as to whether Lallana can flourish, but Le Tissier is confident he can be an important part of the former Borussia Dortmund manager's plans.

Le Tissier told Sky Sports: "I've got no doubt that with the belief from his new manager then he can improve on what he showed at Southampton and become an important player for Liverpool.

Find out what Matt Le Tissier is predicting for Liverpool's clash with Southampton here.

"I certainly think he's good enough to be a Liverpool player under Klopp, the sort of game Klopp wants to play is similar to the one that Mauricio Pochettino demanded at Southampton.

"I know Klopp said he needs to give 20-30 per cent more but I think he has got it in him to step up.

"I've seen him do it very well at Southampton but we've not seen the best out of him at Liverpool because he's been in and out of the team, which has never helped his confidence, something that he needs.

"He's also struggled with injuries but now he's fit and others are out he has the chance to show Klopp what he can do."

"In terms of his best position, at Southampton we played a 4-2-3-1 and he looked very comfortable in any of the positions behind the striker," said Le Tissier.

"The Saints fans used to sing, he plays on the left, he plays on the right, Adam Lallana makes Messi look…well not very good."
