England are the tournament kings at conceding late goals

England show their dejetion after conceding late against Russia

Zinedine Zidane, Henrik Larsson and Vasili Berezutski all have one thing in common – they’ve all scored injury-time goals against England at a major tournament.

Unfortunately for Three Lions fans, England falling asleep late in matches has become a common theme when watching their side.

Findings show that a quarter of goals conceded by England at major tournaments since 2000 have come after the 81st minute, equating to seven of the 29 shipped.

Berezutski was the latest man to profit from England's lack of concentration by netting a dramatic equaliser during injury time in the 1-1 draw in Marseille on Saturday. It was the fourth goal that England have conceded in stoppage time since Euro 2000.

As the table below shows, England seem to start tournament games defensively solid but tend to switch off mid-way through matches before collapsing late on.

Time of England goals conceded at major tournaments

Time (mins) 0-10 11-20 21-30 31-40 41-50 51-60 61-70 71-80 81-90

England continue their Euro 2016 campaign on Thursday against Wales, who will be looking to take advantage of Roy Hodgson's men sloppiness in the latter stages of games.

They certainly possess the credentials to do so.
