Boothroyd hails departing assistant

Adrian Boothroyd has paid tribute to Keith Burkinshaw following the Watford assistant manager's decision to leave the club. Burkinshaw has parted company with the Coca-Coca Championship outfit for family reasons. The 62-year-old former Tottenham boss leaves the Hornets in order to spend more time at home following a serious family illness. Watford boss Boothroyd hailed the impact Burkinshaw has had at Vicarage Road during his two-and-a-half years at the club.

Achievements

"It's a sad day for me that Keith has been forced to leave my side to make sure he prioritises his family life, of course that is far more important than football and always will be," he told the club's official website. "He is one of the great men to have worked in this game, and nobody will ever be able to take away his achievements and the manner in which he conducted himself - always with dignity and pride." Burkinshaw, who managed Spurs between 1976-84, brought Ossie Ardiles and Ricardo Villa to the club and won the FA Cup twice and the Uefa Cup during his time at White Hart Lane.
Bangura
Meanwhile, Watford MP Claire Ward was at Vicarage Road on Saturday to show her support for Al Bangura. Bangura is appealing against the decision to reject his application for permanent asylum and is currently facing a return to Sierra Leone. The Hornets player was moved to tears when he was joined on the pitch at half-time by Ward, with the home fans chanting his name and holding up posters showing his face, which had been placed on every seat.
