United boss delighted to see winger return

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Park Ji-sung to provide Manchester United with an extra dimension after making his long-awaited return from injury.

The South Korea international had been out for nine months with a knee injury before coming on as a substitute during his side's 4-0 win at Sunderland on Boxing Day.

And Ferguson believes the former PSV man will give his side added movement in the second half of the season.

"I was delighted with Ji-sung Park's performance," he told MUTV.

"It was an important day for him. He came on and got more than half an hour under his belt, so we are all pleased with him.

"He is a natural mover. When the team passes the ball, he moves - he's always had a great talent for that and today was another great example of that.

"He kept moving, he kept passing, he kept running behind the Sunderland defence.

"He gave us a lot of energy and it was good to see."
