Promotion chasing Chester have bolstered their midfield ranks by signing Hull City' John Welsh on loan.
Welsh, 23, a former England Under 21 international, went straight into Chester's team for their 2-0 home defeat to Grimsby on New Year's Day, where he picked up a yellow card.
With a playing style compared to Steven Gerrard, Welsh began his career at Liverpool, making four first-team appearances for the Reds.
After an initial spell on loan, he moved to Hull in 2005, joining the Tigers in an exchange deal involving Paul Anderson.

He then made more than 30 first-team appearances for the Championship outfit before breaking his leg earlier this year.
He has since played in the Tigers' reserves and has moved to Chester to get first-team football under his belt, making his seasonal debut in the Grimsby game.
Chester have dropped down to 10th in League Two, five points off a place-off place.
