Argentine striker completes move to Pride Park
Derby County have finalised the £2million signing of Argentinian striker Emanuel Villa.
The 25-year-old arrives at Pride Park from Mexican side UAG Tecos and has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League struggles.
He becomes Paul Jewell's first major January signing and the Rams boss is confident Villa will make an impact in the top flight.
"This is a very exciting capture for us," Jewell told the club's official website. "I believe Emanuel is a striker of the highest quality.
High reputation
"He's a player I've known about for a long time and someone I was very keen to bring here.
"I've seen him play myself and his reputation in South America is very high.
"He's quick, good in the air, strong, and physical and has a good record in front of goal.
"I think he's a player the Derby fans will quickly take to. His attributes give me no doubt that he'll adapt to the English game quickly."
Villa, who will be introduced to Rams supporters at Sunday's FA Cup tie with Sheffield Wednesday, is waiting for international clearance before he can make his debut.
