Kilmarnock bring in defender

Kilmarnock have completed the signing of experienced defender Martyn Corrigan from Motherwell. Corrigan had spent eight years at Fir Park, but has struggled with injuries of late and spent a spell on loan at Dundee earlier in the season. He was under contract at Motherwell until 2009, but has agreed to a mutual termination to facilitate his switch to Kilmarnock. The deal was put on hold following the death of Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell, and Corrigan revealed it was a difficult decision to move to Rugby Park. "It's been a really, really difficult decision to make, especially in light of what has happened at the club in the last week," Corrigan told Motherwell's official website. "I must let it be known that the deal was tied up long before the tragic events and I have tried to delay it as long as possible purely out of respect for the O'Donnell family. "It's with a heavy heart that I leave, but I hope people understand that at my age, I really need first-team football and I need to play every week. The club will always hold a special place in my heart."
