Midfielder moves for undisclosed fee

Wigan have completed the signing of midfielder Wilson Palacios on a three-and-a-half year deal. Palacios has moved to the JJB Stadium for an undisclosed fee from Honduran club Deportivo Olimpia and the 23-year-old has been given international clearance to feature in Wigan's match with Derby on Saturday. The Honduran international played on loan under Wigan manager Steve Bruce in their time together at Birmingham. And Bruce has now returned for Palacios as he bids to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.

Ambitious

Palacios, who has played 42 times for his country, has admitted his delight at securing a permanent move to England and he is looking forward to renewing his relationship with Bruce. "I am really happy to sign for Wigan," Palacios told Wigan's official website. "I like Steve as a manager and I think it is an ambitious club that is going places. "I can't wait to get started now. When the loan finished at Birmingham, Wigan were the first to come in and make me an offer and now I want to focus everything on doing my best here."
