Liverpool have missed out on the signign of Daniel Opare as the Ghanaian starlet is set to join Real Madrid. The 17-year-old defender starred in the 2007 Under 17 World Cup to catch the eye of a number of clubs across Europe. However, Spanish champions Real have won the race to secure Opare and the right-back is now attempting to gain a European passport to allow him to move to the Bernabeu from his current club Ashanti Gold SC. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez was also thought to be keen on Opare, but Ashanti preferred Real's offer. "For me to play in Europe is a dream," Opare told the Spanish media. "The offer of Real Madrid was more interesting to my club." The deal is believed to worth 1.5million euros (£1.1m) and Opare is said to have agreed a six-year deal with Real.
