Frenchman has no plans to leave Emirates Stadium
Abou Diaby insists he is 'very happy' at Arsenal, and is determined to fight for his place in the first team.
Diaby, who joined The Gunners from Auxerre in 2006, has tallied 20 appearances - including 14 starts - so far this season.
The 21-year-old France international saw Lassana Diarra leave Emirates Stadium earlier this month after the former Chelsea man found first-team opportunities hard to come by.
However after holding talks with manager Arsene Wenger, Diaby has explained that he has no plans to follow his compatriot in seeking a move away from Arsenal.
"I am very happy here. I think it is going well for me," he said.
"I have a plan to improve my quality and I am working hard to take my game to the next level."
A brother
Diaby added in the
London Evening Standard: "I was expecting to play more, but I am not worried. I think I will play more at this stage of the season.
"I am trying and working every day to play. I have spoken to the boss about it and he has given me his confidence."
On Diarra's exit to Portsmouth, Diaby said: "I knew what he was thinking. We are always together. He is like a brother for me.
"I was very disappointed, but it is his choice. He left Chelsea because it was not good for him there and he was not really playing.
"He came here and was not playing a lot either. After that he needed to make the choice and he did it. It is best for him."
Position
The majority of Diaby's football has come on the left-hand side of midfield this season, despite his natural position being in the centre.
But Diaby insists he does not mind playing out of position, and has voiced his hope that the change will assist him in improving his game.
"I would like to play in central midfield, but I am happy to play left midfield," he continued.
"I can improve a lot of things - my left foot and my pace. When I will play at central midfield it will be very good for me. For me, it is my best position."
